A kitty cat

Where we live there are a lot of "neighborhood" cats that roam from house to house scavenging for food.  Well, about a year ago one showed up that was just precious.  Sophie was in love, but Dustan is deathly allergic to cats, so we just enjoyed her random company until about 1 and a half months ago when Tom cats started coming around. (Every body can say UH OH together).  Needless to say about two weeks ago I started noticing a tummy on the very small cat, and felt I needed to "do" something.  After talking to some friends who have a lot more experience in the cat department, i call the vet yesterday, to see what to do, what could I do? They said if she let me pick her up (the cat) just put her in a carrier and bring her to them, they would handle it from there.  Let me tell ya'll, I have never even picked up a cat, much less tried to put it in something, and Of course we don't own a carrier. So, I thought "I do have diaper boxes that are pretty big".  So gloves, a taping gun, diaper box, old beach towel, and oh ya, my husbands GA from work, they had stopped by for lunch, and Josh wanted to help.  My husband and two girls are on our porch watching, and Josh and I head across the street to do battle.  That cat was the most friendly unsuspecting thing.  She let me pick her up and place her right inside that box.  Josh had the tape out, and closed it up faster than lightening:). Those Gater Hunters ain't got nothing on us (or maybe she was just a friendly cat).  We drove over to the Vet's clinic, and handed her over.  The whole car ride you could hear the most pitiful "meow", followed by Sophie saying "its o.k. Kitty Cat, It's OHHHHH K".  After we gave her to the front desk, I got back in the car to tears and wanting to know where the Kitty Cat was.  We didn't stop crying til we were home in bed for nap.
I am proud to say I got that cat to a place that can care for her, but I will miss her, and I think it is safe to say so will Sophie.

Welcome to Toddlerhood!

In the last year Sophie has periodically shown the true colors of being a toddler, but nothing like yesterday.
Since she has been two we have had meltdowns, tantrums, lots of giggles, and an over all good time. We haven't had much mischievousness, until now.
Yesterday Sophie went down for her nap around 12:30 and Lily was sleeping as well, so I enjoyed some quite time myself (Little did I know the storm that was coming).  Lily got up a little before 2:00 (Sophie was still asleep) so I feed Lily, and we were playing in the living room, when about 2:30 Sister Sophie slowly walks in the room with a white substance all over her face, hands, and feet.  OH and, she happens to have on one of the biggest smiles she can smile.  As I am trying to remain calm, and figure out what  the substance is, so I can have an idea of what to expect, as I take Sophie to get cleaned up, I realize at least one of the things she has on her is diaper rash cream.
So a deep breath, and I slowly walk to the bedroom door.  This is what I found:
She has opened and emptied every drawer she has, on to the floor, this includes shorts, socks, tights, underwear, gloves, hats, blankets, every bow, a bag of tiny rubber bands (emptied throughout the room), ect, ect, and then she started climbing those drawers to get to the really cool stuff in the cabinets above the drawers.  (You know, all the stuff that you don't want a Two year old to have so you keep it out of reach).
She found several more things to empty out, but the most interesting were bottles of hand sanitizer, which she mixed with the diaper rash creams. She emptied every tub onto the carpet were she continued to mix it until it was a nice shiny lotion consistency.  I believe once she had ground that deep enough into the carpet she decided to come get me a show me what marvelous things she had done.
Needless to say we got everything picked up, and cleaned the carpets as best we could (at least there sanitized).  I was telling a friend yesterday after it happened, and all she could say was welcome to Toddlerhood, so hello all you parents of Toddlers I am here with you, and I say thank you for welcoming me into your club.

My mamma is 61

This weekend the fam and I went to celebrate my moms 61st birthday on Sunday.
After church we drove into Garland and celebrated with one of the best briskets my dad has done, and cake (lets not forget the cake).  Sophie and Lily got to play with their cousin Ashlyn.  The older girls had so much fun just running in and out the back door.  A cold day turned beautiful, and we all just sat around and enjoyed each other.  I really am so blessed to have not only my husband and girls, but an amazing family all the way around.

A couple of days

The last few days have been beautiful outside, and the girls and I have had a lot of fun just running around in our back yard.  Sophie had a crazy dirty face from playing outside at school, but of course wanted to go right back outside when we got home.  I got this pic. and just love it.

Lily slept a big 12 hours yesterday, but last night decided that mom and dad needed to hang out a little bit more than the night before:) As tired as I was, man its is great to see that little one smile up at you.

We had crazy hat day at Art on Tuesday, so I think Sophie wanted to have her own crazy topper. She put her hair up and insisted that I take a picture, so here you go Sophie.

We love piglet.  Lily stole a little stuffed piglet from Nana and Grampa Ralph last weekend, and has not put it down for very long since.  She loves it so much. I watch her hold it, talk to it, and hug it.  I think it might be her best friend right now.

Wednesday feels like a Monday

So, I have Tuesdays off work, but that doesn't mean there not jammed packed full of things to do.
Yesterday I took the girls to Lily's 6 month check up.  She passed all the test with flying colors, and took her shots like little one should, with tears and crying.  Sister Sophie went to the potty twice while we were there, (it was a big potty so we sat sideways and hung on).  When we got home with our McDonald's lunch the plumbers were there to fix our bathtub pipes.  Lily fell asleep, regardless of the noise, and Sophie kept yelling hello to the asst. plumber as he walked back and forth from the house to the truck, but he would not acknowledge her, so she just kept yelling louder hoping he would hear her from the table while she ate.
The plumbers finished mid day (yahhhha), so Soph went down for a nap, and I started to get ready for Art Lessons.  It was crazy hat day so I made the plans for some crazy hats for the kids to make and they all came in their own crazy hats.  Sophies baby sitter brought Corn Starch and a pan to make Gack, so there was a huge mess to clean up after the Lesson regardless of the babysitters best efforts to clean it up herself.  Then dinner (Leftovers anyone?).  Sophie had not gotten to play out side much, so after dinner the three of us march outside and enjoyed the last sunlight of the day before bed.
Dustan came in as I was filling the bath with bathwater, and we got the girls bathed and in bed.  It was a long day but a really blessed one.  No pictures today, but maybe tomorrow.
Sophie had a small accident at School on Monday, but we came home in Panties, and are in Panties again today!  My little girl is no longer a baby (but I still love her like she is).

What a great Spring Break

We had a great time just enjoying each other!  Dustan was able to stay home on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (needless to say that hasn't happened in a while).

On Friday, we played in the yard while enjoying the beautiful weather down here in Texas.  Both girls were exhausted  when it came time for naps, and we even splurged and walked to the movie store, where dad picked out the New Tinkerbell movie we were saving for the day Soph came home dry from School, and I couldn't say no.  So we sat down together and watched Tinkerbell.

On Saturday, we went to see Nana and Grampa Ralph.  The girls had a play date with the grandparents, while Dustan and I went to lunch and shopping for things we won't be able to buy for a long time, but it is fun to pretend. We got home late, ate a Daddy made dinner which was fabulous, and went to bed.

On Sunday, Dustan was suppose to put up the shower walls while the girls and I went to church, but when we got home... no go.  After looking under the bathtub, he realized there is more to do before those walls can go up.  So still no shower in my master bath:), but we were able to play all day, and enjoy daddy some more.

Over all it was a break to remember.  Boy, I sure do love my family.

P.S. We woke up this morning, and decided Sophie would try to go to school in "pantie panties" today.(That's big girl underwear for those not in the Thrift household) we will see how we do.

So, no Tinkerbell on Wednesday.  I picked up Sophie from day school with a diaper on, but I have faith my little girl will be watching the newest Tinkerbell before I can blink.
Lily has been occasionally eating solid food, and we tried carrots yesterday.  She loved them.  I poured some on her tray, and she made her own masterpiece.
Dustan came home from the golf tournament, and you could feel the excitement from the girls when he walked in the house.
I was just reminded from a friend as I told her of the many times I was up last night with Lily, what a blessing it is to have that problem.  I love these girls so much, and to have their Daddy is a gift I forget to be grateful for sometimes.
